Here We Go Again | Pablo FranciscoAmerican stand-up comic, Pablo Francisco, has returned to Australian shores for the 4th time to deliver his manic comedy routine to adoring fans. In this particular show, Here We Go Again (Back in the Outback) he trials his new animated skits with partner-in-crime, Steve Kramer.

Steve Kramer is a talent all on his own. Not only can he match voice impersonations that Francisco is known for, he is also a singer, musician, and developed all of the animations that were projected during Francisco’s act. Kramer charmed the crowd in his own supporting stand-up routine, parodying musicians, celebrities, and even us Sydney-dwellers. He had the audience in stitches and pumped the crowd up for the man of the hour, Pablo Francisco.

Francisco burst on to the stage, all engines firing, and spent a solid 20 minutes mocking his own developing bald patch. The crowd could not control their laughter as each sound escaped his mouth left audiences with nothing but cramping bellies. His jokes rolled out so quickly it was really hard to keep up. Audiences just let the hilarity wash over them like a warm and comforting bubble of laughing gas.

Porn videos were re-enacted (vocally and physically), relationships with women were addressed, as well as measuring the size of a man. Favourites were “songs not to play while having sex,” going on a double-date to a Blues lounge, and the Transformers doing things that you would never have imagined in your wildest dreams, or nightmares.

The crude and inappropriate jokes built up to the climactic finale where Francisco invited Kramer on to the stage to re-enact celebrity voices making love (to each other, of course). Matthew McConaughey made a vocal appearance, as well as Owen Wilson, and Adam Sandler, and concluded with Arnold Schwarzenegger having sex… with himself. It was all just too much. But just like a big block of chocolate, you have to keep going and finish that business off, because it tastes so good.

Francisco gave the audience everything they were anticipating from the show. His very famous ‘move trailer’ voice, and his impersonation of a vast array of A-list (and D-list) celebs, including an unfortunately accurate impression of Dr Phil and Judge Judy. This was all interjected by short animations projected on stage which is rumoured to turn in to a television series that we hope to see broadcast in Australia soon. Schwarzenegger was mocked again, as well as Dog the Bounty Hunter, and various cultures from around the world.

Assumedly the animations gave Francisco a little break from his powerhouse performance (any normal person would have taken the opportunity to pass out from exhaustion). Mainly, it was a tester to see how audiences would respond to his (and Kramer’s) latest venture. And if the audience reaction was anything to go by, this animation style could be up there with the likes of Robot Chicken, and Family Guy.

Steve Kramer and Pablo Francisco are a match made in X-rated heaven, and Francisco is going as strong as ever since his stand-up gained momentum in the 1990s. We will wait for his 5th return to Australia for more, because we just can’t get enough.
